Deputy Director of the SDG Secretariat Yerlan Karimov told the students about the institutional framework for the implementation of the SDGs in Kazakhstan.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in 2015, includes a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals aimed at eliminating poverty, combating inequality and injustice and solving problems related to climate change, the speaker said.

«The SDG concept is a three-component model, " he said.

The expert also voiced Kazakhstan's obligations under the Paris Agreement (reduction of carbon dioxide emissions) and presented the experience of different countries on approaches to localization of the SDGs (countries that have conceptual documents (national strategies for sustainable development) and countries that do not have special national documents on sustainable development, to which Kazakhstan belongs).

The presentation shows that there is a hierarchy of state planning documents in the Republic of Kazakhstan. For example, the highest status document is the Strategy Kazakhstan 2050. Now we are working to ensure that the process of nationalization and localization of the SDGs in the country covers more and more areas, " Yerlan Karimov explained.

The speaker's speech also included information about the architecture of SDG coordination in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the activities of the SDG Secretariat in the country and the results of Kazakhstan in the SDG Index-202 1.

She also spoke about the methodological basis for Assessing Development Financing( ADF), the directions of conducting ADF in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the need for development financing in the country.

According to her, the indicators laid down in national projects should correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals.

At the end of the speech, the speaker announced the main conclusions of the Development Finance Assessment in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the necessary steps for holding the Integrated National Financing Mechanism in the country.
