Yesterday, on December 7, the sixth meeting of the ECO Permanent Steering Committee on Economic Research and the fifth meeting of the Editorial Board for ECO Economic Journal were held by the Organization's Secretariat in videoconference format. Experts of Economic Research Institute JSC (ERI) took part in the event.

During the meeting, a new chairman of committee and editor-in-chief of the journal were elected. ECO secretariat presented the Draft Annual Economic Report as well. Participants reviewed the concept paper Formulation of ECO Economic Research Policy 2022-2025”, and also announced reports/presentations on exchange of knowledge, experience and new proposals on “ECO Economic Research and Outlook for 2022-2025”.   

The parties highlighted priority areas of cooperation within ECO, such as supply chain development, digital transformation, food security and sustainable agro-industry, green trade, poverty reduction, environmental protection and many others.

During the discussion, Director of ERI Center Dolores Tyulebekova spoke about the Institute activities, and proposed a topic for research on development of a pilot energy model as well.

Meeting mentioned the signing of the Charter of ECO Research Center during XIV summit by the heads of Turkey and Azerbaijan in March this year. Other ECO member countries are also invited to sign this document.

Main goal of ECO - a sustainable economic development of member states and the region as a whole. ECO includes: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
